Selective Pallet Rack
General Description
The selective pallet rack is the simplest and most economical system for palletized storage where each SKU can be individually stored and retrieved.
The typical arrangement is in a multiple of single and back-to-back rows separated by forklift access aisles (right angle stacking). A variety of options are available to convert a basic frame and beam arrangement for the storage of non-palletized loads.
Application
Typically, it's used for storage of palletized or non-palletized loads where access to individual SKUs is desirable or required. Selective is the most common choice where load characteristics may frequently change.
Attributes
- Common sizes offer highest recovery value
- Easy to adjust beam levels
- Easy to set up
- Flexible layout
- Lowest capital cost per pallet position for pallet rack storage systems
- Typically the highest occupancy rate (90%+) when storage locations are randomly assigned
- Unless serviced by very narrow aisle (VNA) forklifts, it may offer lower warehouse storage density when compared to other pallet rack configurations
