Pushback
General Description
It's a medium to high-density pallet storage system utilizing a series of nesting carriers gliding in a sloping channel rail supported by a pallet rack framework.
Pushback lanes are typically two to six pallets deep. One or more lanes are usually dedicated to multiples of the same SKU, since storage is on a FILO (first in last out) basis.
Application
- Can be used in dry storage, freezers and coolers
- Medium to high-density storage for multiple like-item pallets
- Medium volume throughput to accommodate multiple differing SKUs
- Used to increase picking efficiency
Attributes
- Can be retrofitted to drive-in or double deep pallet rack systems to accommodate an increased number of differing SKUs or to improve case picking efficiency
- Doesn't require specialized forklift
- Faster cycle times than drive-in systems, especially when compared to deep tunnels
- FILO inventory system
- Higher capital cost than static high-density alternatives
- Loads index automatically: Forklifts don't have to enter the system, but provide braking force as pallets are placed into or removed from storage
- Offers medium to high-density storage that can be configured in blocks of varying lane depths two to six deep
- Reduced potential for pallet rack damage when compared to drive-in systems
